David's Story

Life Reader's Digest Condensed Biography Graduated H.S. Started at Loyola University. Dropped out. Became a bum. Worked odd jobs. Got a job with an Indiana utility company. Worked as a janitor, pipeline mechanic, generating station mechanic, substation electrician and chemical technician (in that order). Got married when I was a substation electrician, had a son, got divorced. Went to Purdue. Got a degree. Got married again after I became a chemical technician, had a daughter, stayed married. In the process of living happily ever after. Hello to my friends! School I've learned a couple useful life lessons over the years since high school. old, "If you intend to be a lawyer, why would you want to waste your time on a drafting class?" Of course, I never became a lawyer. And during those times when I was a pipeline mechanic and a substation electrician, a drafting class would have come in very handy. Then there was chemistry class...a real debacle for me...the only class I ever received a "D" in. I kept thinking, "This is nonsense! How does chemistry relate to my future!" Of course, I now work in a chemistry lab. My second great lesson: Study what you love, not what you think will make you tons of money. I was able to pass that bit of wisdom on to my son, who got an art degree from Columbia and is currently living in Venice, California. Anyway, life didn't turn out the way I thought it would but it's a good life just the same.
